A recent article in the Wall Street Journal raised the possibility that non–profit pay will come under the same microscope as Wall Street pay. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123811160845153093.html.

The recent case of the NYSE ‘s payment to Dick Grasso raised the issue until it was dismissed because the exchange became a for profit entity. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/02/business/02grasso.html?ref=nyregion

The president of American University in Washington, D.C. was also forced to resign because of his compensation and perks. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0WMX/is_19_22/ai_n15950882/

Senator Grassley has taken a strong interest in this issue. Association Directors would be well advised to review the issue and establish a record of deliberations and research regarding their executive pay scales and perks in order to defend against any IRS or state scrutiny. Plexus is prepared to advise in this area and welcomes any inquiries.
