Robert Soong, immediate past executive director of the Asian American Higher Education Council, is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with over 30 years experience in management, financial administration, marketing research and development for trade associations, professional societies, and other membership organizations. He has served in recent years as director of business development for the Advanced Business Planning Group in New York City, and is currently engaged in association marketing initiatives for service providers. His management experiences encompassed the following: National Blue Cross Association, American Hospital Association, City of Chicago, National Council of YMCAs, Pace University, American Humanics (Consortium of Colleges, Universities, and National Organizations of Human Services), National Student Nurses' Association and Foundation, Friendship Press, National Council of Churches, International Council for Caring Communities, and the Board of Global Ministries (United Methodist Church).
Managing organizational budgets of over $50 million, Robert Soong has worked with various boards of directors and multiple committees, as staff and consultant to the implementation of corporate long-range planning and management of highly decentralized operations. He has served as chief financial and administrative officer of 300 staff in various departments. As a volunteer, Soong has given leadership to social action projects in economic opportunities, citizenship advocacy, higher education, public health, multicultural and international relations. He is the founding director of Friendship Tours of China. Robert Soong is also designated as a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA). An active member of the American Society of Association Executives and the New York Society of Association Executives, he has served various positions of leadership in finance and administration, human resources, education and professional development. He is a strong advocate of "Heads-Up Eyes-Open" strategic planning, and has been a long-standing member and mission educator of the United Methodist Church. |
