Neil Bohnert has more than 25 years of
experience as a senior executive of nonprofit organizations and for-profit
subsidiaries. As a CEO and COO in organizations ranging from 150 to 500
people, he has dealt with all facets of management, including board
development, professional staff recruitment, membership management,
strategic planning, quality improvement, issues management, government
relations, volunteer activities, special events, and educational programs.
Bohnert applies his extensive experience working with volunteer leaders to achieve the dual rewards of greater satisfaction on the part of individual board members and the enhanced effectiveness of the board as a governing body. He has successfully led board development programs to identify and implement specific strategies to enhance the governance of organizations, achieving exceptional board performance. Bohnert works with board retreats, educational seminars, and special board programs to focus board work on strategic performance-governance actions targeted to the strategic purposes of the organization. Core strategies involve evaluating board performance, streamlining meetings, and guiding the organization in board organization and development. The outcome of the investment is exceptional governance-getting the right people doing the right things to advance the organization's mission and positioning the organization ahead of the competition for revenues, grants, programs, staff, and even for board members. Prior leadership and management roles were with healthcare providers and associations. He has worked with diverse groups including regional healthcare, civic, and historical associations. Bohnert is a Certified Association Executive, is board certified by the American College of Healthcare Executives, and has served on state, regional, and national organizations. In 1995, he was selected to participate in a one-year fellowship with the Healthcare Forum. Bohnert has served on boards, staffed boards, consulted with boards, and has led breakthrough strategies with volunteer boards. He understands the unique values of nonprofit organizations. |
