Jerry Goldsmith brings decades of experience to his clients. For the past eighteen years, Mr. Goldsmith has worked in the non-profit sector for a trade association and a professional association—both involved in medical products and healthcare. Most recently, he was Vice President, Marketing Programs of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) where his major accomplishments included developing its annual meeting into the sixth largest medical meeting in the US (and the largest diagnostics meeting in the world), expanded the reach of the association into other medical disciplines and greatly increased the association’s international impact. Mr. Goldsmith also led the association’s entry into new disciplines such as pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Goldsmith helped found the National Managed Health Care Congress served for a number of years as the marketing communications director for the Comdex computer trade shows and worked for several companies in a variety of marketing and management positions.

Mr. Goldsmith’s impact on his industry extended beyond the work he did for AACC. He was a founding member of the Biomedical Marketing Association (now the Diagnostics Marketing Association--DxMA) in 1974, and still serves as an advisor to its board of directors. In recognition of Mr. Goldsmith’s service to the industry, DxMA created an annual award in Mr. Goldsmith’s name to recognize individuals for outstanding contribution to the industry. Mr. Goldsmith was the first recipient of the Jerry R. Goldsmith Award for Excellence. Mr. Goldsmith was also honored when a leading trade publication named him a “Mover and Shaker” for his success in leading the association and its members to its dominant position in the industry. Mr. Goldsmith’s role in leading the association in areas of personalized medicine instigated the AACC Board to nominate him for the Annual Leadership in Personalized Medicine Award presented by the Personalized Medicine Coalition.

Mr. Goldsmith has worked extensively with the US Department of Commerce International Buyer Program, both at AACC and while working on the Comdex computer shows. He found that building international attendance at an annual meeting or trade show is the best way to build international membership and to keep exhibitors happy.

Mr. Goldsmith describes his key strengths as “I have always been able to study the past and present to develop a fairly accurate prediction of the future. That, by itself, is not worth much—but then I have been able to develop programs and gather the resources to prepare organizations for that future—and investing to take advantage of new opportunities. I also have what has turned out to be a rare appreciation of how audiences will respond to messages—all too often organizations wind up telling themselves what they want to hear, rather that talking with their customers.” Most of all, Mr. Goldsmith is pragmatic—preferring to complete one thing well, rather than starting many projects that never get finished. These are skills that can be applied to any organization or business.
