| Meeting to Offer Association Executives Insight into International Development [News Release] |

AIMD Conference December 15th will feature Department of Commerce speakers discussing opportunities for associations abroad. Washington, DC-November 25, 2003--Plexus Consulting Group, in conjunction with the Center for Association Leadership, will host the next Association International Market Development (AIMD) conference on Monday, December 15th at the Center for Association Leadership headquarters from 9:00 to 4:30 pm EST. The Center for Association Leadership is located in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC. The morning will be devoted to a member-only meeting in which members will discuss the strategies and status of AIMD initiatives. The second half of the day (12:30-4:30 PM) will be open to all association representatives who wish to attend and will consist of talks given by four key program directors from the Department of Commerce. Speakers will be present from the Business Information Service for the Newly Independent States program, the Central & Eastern Europe Business Information Center, the Office of Environmental Technologies Industries, and the Office of Service Industries and Finance, and will discuss opportunities for the association community within their respective programs. AIMD's mission is to forge better working relationships between bi- and multilateral donor and lending agencies and the association community, and thereby assist associations in launching and/or expanding their services to international markets through the use of funds for international development assistance. Its goals are 1) to identify and assist in the procurement of government sponsored grants and contracts for members of the association community, and in so doing, enable associations to develop and/or enhance their international presence, and 2) to provide a forum for the association community and agencies that administer international programs to enhance their dialogue, build mutual awareness, and broaden collaboration.
